Its all in the angles. most drummers I see sit to low in there seat allowing fatigue to set in. sit hire to have more action on the kit and to play the encores.. drinking water before a performance is a great thing to do also drumline out....
You're absolutely right! Drink plenty of water, not pop or alcohol.
I find a good starting point is to set your throne so that your legs are parallel to the ground. A little of an incline or decline is ok, so long as you're in that ball park. But you're right, I see too many drummers sitting too low.
Another thing is this. Try sitting on the forward edge of your seat. The reason for this is you want to project your energy forward into your kit. If you sit in the middle or on the very back, the seat is supporting the back of your legs, you're losing energy. At least that works for me. Everyone is different.
